Allama Khadim Rizvi buried; record-breaking crowd attends funeral

ISLAMABAD, 21 November — The leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi was buried here in Lahore, after a large funeral attended by tens of thousands of his followers.

The funeral, which was held in Minar-e-Pakistan, was attended by party workers and supporters who had been flocking to the provincial capital from across the country since Friday.

The funeral was led by the late Khadim Hussain’s son Hafiz Saad Rizvi. The funeral that was to be held at 10 a.m. was delayed due to the large gathering.

Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi ended his seat at the Faizabad interchange, Islamabad Monday and is back home. However, he had a high fever and complained of breathing problems. He was rushed to the hospital, but dropped out on the way Thursday night.

After the funeral, the Tehreek-e-Labbaik announced his son as the new “Ameer” leader of the party.

Apart from the party followers, the funeral was attended by a large number of religious and political figures and the general public.

Video clips released by the TLP showed that there is a large crowd called the largest in the city’s history.
